How long is my piercing gonna take to heal is a frequently asked question for which we can only give a range. Healing times range from as little as 8 weeks, but it can be 3 months or even a year depending on the area you choose and your body’s response. • Nose piercings have a typical healing time of 2-4 months
  • Ear piercings have a typical healing time of 2-3 months
  • Navel piercings have a typical healing time of 6-12 months.
  • Helix piercings have a typical healing time of 3-6 months
  • Conch piercings have a typical healing time of 6-8 months
  • Daith piercings have a typical healing time of 6-8 months
  • Rook piercings have a typical healing time of 5-7 months.

  • Nipple piercings have a typical healing time of 4-6 months but it may take up to a year to be fully healed

Carefully select your jewellery

Be sure to discuss with your piercer the type of jewellery they will pierce you with, because some materials are not suitable for piercing. At Outliers Ink we will pierce you with sterile titanium jewellery only. If budget permits we will use a 14K gold jewellery. These are hypoallergenic and do not contain any nickel, therefore giving your piercings the best chance of healing.

Choose a piercing studio that uses needle rather than gun

Avoid any piercing studio that uses a piercing gun over a needle. Amongst the many reasons, piercing guns are unhygienic, prone to malfunction, terrible for accuracy and a lot more traumatic for your tissue than a needle may ever appear to be. Here’s a quick explainer from Nicole on piercing guns
