Best tattoo aftercare routine

Tattoo aftercare butter by Outliers Ink Tattoo Studio

The best tattoo aftercare routine is the one tailored to yourself by your tattoo artist.

At Outliers Ink, after getting a tattoo you will always be provided with detailed aftercare instructions for looking after your new tattoo.

Whilst we don’t provide general aftercare advice to the public, there are basic do’s and don’ts to safely heal your tattoos and prevent infection. Here is the basic info you should receive from any tattoo artists.

Tattoo aftercare do’s

So if you find yourself in this situation, we have compiled some basic do’s and don’ts.

  • Do wash your tattoo twice daily
  • Moisturise it to keep your skin hydrated which will speed healing time. At Outliers Ink we have our very own tattoo butter which hydrates, nourishes and protects. It is available in store and on our shop website [Link to big cartel shop]
  • Swelling can happen around the tattoo for the first few days with large tattoos, this is normal..

Tattoo aftercare dont’s

  • Avoid submerging your tattoo in water and having your tattoo in direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks.
  • Do not pick or pull at the skin, it will ruin your new tattoo. The skin will start to flake and possibly scab, this is part of the skin healing process.
  • Note:  If your tattoo becomes hot, looks red, is painful or develops a rash contact your GP.

And when booking your next tattoo please head to a reputable studio that cares about your tattoo, health and well-being. If you have any question, your first consultation is on us, get in touch.
