How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment?

Tattoo

Here’s 5 things you can do to prepare for your tattoo appointment. Not only will they improve your experience but they will help your tattoo look better once healed.

  1. Get a good night’s sleep. Some people have found that getting a tattoo on no sleep actually makes it feel more painful!
  2. Eat a balanced meal. It will help prevent your blood sugar levels dropping too low, which can make you feel faint, shaky and sweaty. And it will give your body the energy it needs to handle the process of being tattooed.
  3. Avoid alcohol at least 24 hours before your tattoo appointment. Why? Alcohol thins the blood which can make you bleed more during and after your appointment. This can push out the ink affecting the density of pigment in your finished tattoo.
  4. Prep your skin. 48 hours before your tattoo appointment, exfoliate the area and if you don’t already start moisturising daily. It will keep your skin hydrated, prevent dry skin and healthy skin tattoos better.
  5. Hydrate. Drink plenty of water before your appointment, doing this in the weeks leading up to your appointment will improve the quality of your skin. And on the day it will keep you feeling well during your appointment.
