A belly piercing typically sits above the navel, but it is not unusual for people to have a stomach piercing below or to the side of their navel.
If you are getting a piercing in Birmingham, at Outliers Ink, I will guide you on the day for the best placement. Ultimately as long as it is safe to do so we will place it where you are most happy.
At Outliers Ink we will pierce you with sterile titanium jewellery only. If budget permits we will use a 14K gold jewellery which is hypoallergenic and does not contain any nickel, therefore giving your piercings the best chance of healing.
With proper aftercare and good hygiene practices the majority of navel piercings are successful providing your anatomy is suitable. However, due to the fact that the bar sits vertically, that the excess movement from standing and sitting and low blood flow in the area, this type of piercing takes a while to heal. Everyone’s healing journey is unique, so you will need to be patient and kind to yourself during the process.
Navel piercings have a typical healing time of 6-12 months. After your piercing you will be provided with an aftercare kit along with aftercare advice for you to follow.

No, a curved barbell is always used initially for your belly piercing here at Outliers Ink. We adopt a safety-first approach and once healed you are free to wear whatever jewellery you desire. We often source exclusive pieces for our piercing clients, but let’s get the area healed and healthy first.
As with all tattoos and piercings, pain is subjective and different for each individual. Our clients often give this piercing a 5.5 out of 10 pain scale rating. The good news that everyone can agree on is that the piercing process itself is very quick so if there is any pain, it won’t be for long.
